Prevent Email Trackers
Some emails sent from companies or even some users contain tracking pixels. These tracking pixels allow the sender of the email to be notified when you read their email. To prevent tracking pixels from notifying the sender that you read their email you would need to disable external images in Gmail from displaying without permission. Below are the instructions on how to do this. This will prevent apps like mailtrack from tracking the emails sent to you that use their service.
Ask before showing images
- On your computer, go to Gmail.
- In the top right, click Settings See all settings.
- Scroll down to the "Images" section.
- Click Ask before displaying external images.
- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
Note: When you get a message with images, see the images by clicking Display images below.
